Ruth Ham: Rogers appointed as Shapleigh's Emergency Management Agency deputy
Select Shapleigh named Darren Rogers to serve as Deputy Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director.
Rogers is to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Barry Mullen from this position.
Current EMA Director Bob Abbott attended the select on June 28 and spoke on behalf of Rogers.
Engineers hired FOR TESTING SOIL
The select board has signed a contract with SW Cole Engineering (SWCE) to perform sampling and testing gravel borrow source of the proposed sand and salt storage building.
During his meeting with the road commissioners of the city, SWCE observe the source of borrowing and to identify areas of gravel that have the potential to meet the desired specifications. Bulk samples of these areas will be obtained and returned to their laboratory for soil testing to include testing of gradation.
LETTER OF CREDIT PROJECT PRESENTED
Industrial Tours, LLC, presented a draft letter of credit to the Town of Shapleigh has been reviewed by the City Attorney.The select has returned to Tours for some industrial minor changes before it is placed on their agenda for action and signatures.
Industrial Tours, LLC, has installed a communications tower on a parcel of 14 acres of land purchased by Lauren Clark Lane, just off the road Owl nest. The purpose of the letter of credit is to provide funds for the dismantling and removal of the tower, should it ever be abandoned or poorly maintained.
GENERAL HELP RECORDS demonstrate compliance
Maine Department of Health and Human Services Auditor Gerard Biron Shapleigh recently visited to examine the records of the town general assistance. Further investigation indicated that the program is administered by the city in accordance with the statutes of general assistance and general assistance policy of the DHHS.
